Dustin Johnson of Coastal Carolina University, South Carolina, moved up five places to No 6 in the R&A World Amateur Golf Ranking, following his victory at the Monroe Invitational in Pittsford, New York. Having shot a course record equalling 62 on Friday, Johnson shot a one-under par final round 71 to win by four shots from fellow US Walker Cup training squad player Cameron Tringale. The finish moved Tringale up 8 places to No 30.
Jamie Lovemark regained the No 1 spot, in the R&A World Amateur Golf Ranking, having finished second in the Rochester Area Charities Showdown at Somerby Golf Club in Byron, Minnesota, on the Nationwide Tour on Sunday. Lovemark narrowly missed out on victory having been beaten in a playoff by seasoned US PGA Tour professional and Ryder Cup player Chris Riley. This was another feather in the cap for Jamie Lovemark, who became the first junior to win the Western Amateur when he won the event in August, 2005.
