Jamie Moul finished joint winner of the English Open Amateur Championship, tying for The Brabazon Trophy with Frenchman Romain Bechu at the Forest of Arden, and further strengthened his position at the top of the R&A World Amateur Golf Ranking.

Moul’s impressive performance at the Brabazon which followed a 3rd place last year will have gone a long way to cementing his place in the GB&I Walker Cup team to face the USA at Royal County Down in September.

In the United States, Billy Horschel and Chris Kirk achieved their highest World Amateur Golf Rankings to date, moving up to No 3 & 4 respectively. Horschel was the joint winner of the NCAA East Regional at Alpharetta, Georgia on Saturday, whilst Kirk’s victory at last week’s Linger Longer Invitational in Greensboro, Georgia helped him climb four places to No 4.
