Lloyd Saltman moved to his highest position of No 6 in the R&A World Amateur Golf Rankings after securing the Irish Amateur Open Championship on Sunday. The win wrapped up an impressive quadruple for the young Scot having won four consecutive 72-hole events. His victory last weekend at The Royal Dublin Golf Club was the culmination of some superb early season form that has seen him climb from No 33 in the rankings to his position of 6th, in the last six weeks.
Saltman’s run, which began at the Scottish Champion of Champions carried on at the Craigmillar Park Open in April and continued into May with victory at the Lytham Trophy, played at the famous Open Championship venue, Royal Lytham & St Annes.
Jamie Moul remains at No 1 for the 14th straight week, while Welshman Rhys Davies moved up one place to second. Along with Saltman, both are strong candidates for inclusion in the GB&I team for the Walker Cup, which will be played at Royal County Down on 8 & 9 September.
