Oklahoma State freshman, Rickie Fowler has moved back to the top of the World Amateur Golf Rankings following his maiden college victory at the Fighting Illini Invitational at Olympia Fields Country Club.  In only his second collegiate event, Fowler shot 70, 63, 70 to win by 1 stroke from Jorge Campillo of Indiana University, a quarterfinalist in this year’s Amateur Championship.

19-year-old Fowler, who occupied the No 1 spot from week XX to week XX, was a revelation at the Walker Cup winning three out of his four matches.  He was also hot on the heels of Colt Knost to be the inaugural winner of the Mark H McCormack Medal finishing 4th at the Ping/Golfweek Preview last week, where a win would have seen him take the award from his Walker Cup team mate.
