Danny Lee of New Zealand moved up five places to No 9 in The R&A World Amateur Golf Ranking with his victory in the prestigious Lake Macquarie event at Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia.
Lee has already finished second in the New Zealand Under-23 Championship this season and was leading individual in the Under-23 Team event. The young player from Bay of Plenty won the Bledisloe Cup as leading amateur in the 2007 New Zealand Open with a three-under-par 69 in the final round.
In South Africa Johan Du Buisson was the winner of the Prince’s Grant Amateur Open and Dean O’Riley took the KwaZulu-Natal Amateur title at Selbourne.
Daniel Weisenberg (USA) entered the Ranking for the first time with victory in the Battle of the Cats at Lake Wales in Florida.
Nicolas Geyger of Chile, who won the Landfall Tradition event last year, captured the Abierto Rocas de Santo Domingo and in Bukit, Malaysia, the KL Amateur was won by Alex Tiong.
