Norway's Anders Kristiansen has moved up to fifth in the World Amateur Golf Ranking. The 18-year-old has enjoyed a superb season, highlights of which included winning the Australian Amateur and coming within a couple of shots of winning the Lexus Challenge on the Challenge Tour. He also played a starring role in his nation's victory in the 2008 World Junior Team Championship.
Elsewhere in the rankings, two English players distinguished themselves with top performances. Luke Goddard rose 41 places to number 64 in the world after he produced the best individual performance at the Portugal Nations Cup. It's a result that comes just a few weeks after he won the South of England Amateur and had a near-miss at the European Amateur. If Goddard keeps up the form he'll soon be rising even higher.
The other English riser this week was Stiggy Hodgson, who rose 100 places to 228th in the world. The Sunningdale-based player has made a great impression in Boys' golf over the last few years, and his victory in the Duke of York Young Champions event in Scotland comes at the tail end of a successful season.
