Week 51 sees Australian Kieran Pratt (Commonwealth) continue his winning form with victory in the 2009 Victorian Amateur Match Play Championship at Kingston Heath Golf Club, Australia. In a closely contested 36 hole final, Tim Hart (Indoorpilly) set up a two-hole advantage over his twenty-one year-old opponent after the mornings play.
Twenty-year-old Hart birdied the opening hole of the afternoon to give himself a three hole advantage. However, with the match all square after eleven holes, Pratt moved into the lead finally defeating Hart 3&1.
This is the third event in a row Pratt has won following victory two weeks ago in the Dunes Medal and then clinching the title last week at Kingston Health winning the 2009 Port Phillip Amateur. Pratt ends Week 51 WAGRanked 58, 28 places higher than the previous week.
Elsewhere, Vasin Sripattaranusorn won the South East Asia Games in Lao, Thailand. This performance gives Sripattaranusorn a 164-place boost up the Ranking to 460.
Returning the lowest round of his amateur career, an eight-under 64, India’s Rashid Khan led the Delhi A team to a comprehensive win at the West Bengal Inter-State Championships over the par- 72 Royal Calcutta Golf Club, Kolkata. In the individual event, Khan delivered his biggest victory margin, winning his fifth title this season on the LG Amateur Tour with a margin of 11 shots.
The 18-year-old moves into the top 100 of the ranking, gaining 26 places to reach WAGRank position 78.
France's Victor Dubuisson remains WAGR Number One.
