In Week 50, Kalem Richardson took the Port Phillip Open Amateur with a closing round of two-under-par 71 at Kingston Heath Golf Club. Having been two strokes off the lead at the half-way stage, Richardson, who makes an 75-place move to WAGRank 563, rallied to claim victory by a solitary stroke from Indooroopilly’s Tim Hart, Victoria’s Ryan McCarthy and Tim Power Horan of Cheltenham Golf Club.

At the Sabah International Junior Masters in Malaysia, Gavin Kyle Green emerged triumphant on a three-day, 13-over-par total of 266. Green fired a final round of 76 to claim an unlikely three-stroke win from runner-up Jeremiah Kim at Sabah Golf and Country Club.

"I am quite surprised to win this event as this is my first competitive golf after seven months as I need to concentrate on my SPM studies," said Green, up 53 places to 595th this week. "I still have one last paper on Economics on the 20th and after that I will continue to train hard for the National Trial in January".

And finally, the Copa Nacional Puerta de Hierro was taken by Madrid’s Antonio Hortal, after he defeated Oliver Mena 2&1 in the final, reduced from 36 holes to 18 due to the threat of adverse weather conditions. Hortal, the beneficiary of an 23-place ascent up the Ranking to 455th, joins a list of past winners which includes Jose Maria Olazabal, Ignacio Garrido and Sergio Garcia.

The USA’s Peter Uihlein remains the World Amateur Golf Ranking Number One.
