Inglis wins TRANS Amateur

  • Caroline Inglis improves her status on this week’s World Amateur Golf RankingTM with a one-shot victory in the TRANS Amateur Championship at Yakima Country Club in Yakima, Washington. The Eugene, Oregon native posted a 7-under-par total of 281 after scores of 70, 75, 67 and 69. She defeated Pauline Del Rosario by a stroke.
  • Inglis rises 11 places to 31st, while Del Rosario climbs 89 spots to 310th.

Spanish joy in Sweden

  • Ana Pelaez Trivino rises 10 places to 43rd after winning the Annika Invitational Europe. Pelaez Trivino won by three shots after scores of 69, 69 and 72 at Bro-Bålsta Golfklubb gave her a 9-under-par total of 210. Compatriot Maria Parra Luque and England’s Sophie Lamb finished joint second. Parra Luque remains the world’s third best amateur, while Lamb rises to 388th from last week’s position at 463rd.

Giles wins English Stroke Play

  • Victory in the English Women's Open Stroke Play Championship at St Annes Old Links takes Samantha Giles to 320th in the world, an improvement of 194 rankings. The 20-year-old from Cornwall holed a 15-foot birdie putt on the final green to defeat Rochelle Morris by a shot. Morris moves 380 places to 545th.

  • Tiffany Chan of Hong Kong and France’s Justine Dreher move into this week’s top 20. Chan rises eight places to 19th, while Dreher takes the 20th ranking with a move of three spots.

Top 50 movers

  • England’s Charlotte Thomas joins Pelaez Trivino in the top 50 with an improvement of 23 rankings to 50th.

    Biggest ranking improvement

    • Victory in the Utah Women's State Amateur makes American Kelsey Chugg the week’s most improved player. She rises 990 places to world number 1,916.

    Mazzoli books Open Championship place

    • Stefano Mazzoli will play in next year’s Open Championship at Royal Troon after winning the European Amateur Championship at Penati Golf Resort in Slovakia. The Italian returned scores of 65, 67, 69 and 68 for a 19-under-par total of 269. He defeated Ireland’s Gary Hurley by a shot.
    • Mazzoli arrived in Slovakia ranked 259th on the World Amateur Golf RankingTM. His world status is greatly improved this week. He soars to 86th, a rise of 172 places. Hurley strengthens his grasp on the world number 26 ranking, and greatly increases his chances a Walker Cup debut. Hurley is already in the Great Britain & Ireland squad preparing to play the United States at Royal Lytham September 12-13.
    • Gavin MoynihanIreland’s Gavin Moynihan, who played in the 2013 Walker Cup, increases his chances of a return to the GB&I team. He finished third two shots off the pace and rises 24 places to 28th.

    Armstrong lands eagle in Western Amateur

    • Dawson Armstrong of the United States jumps 103 places on this week’s ranking after winning the Western Amateur in dramatic fashion. Armstrong defeated Aaron Wise at the second extra hole by holing a greenside bunker shot for eagle. Armstrong rises to 54th. Wise, recent winner of the Pacific Coast Amateur, improves 10 places to 12th.

    • Dutch amateur Rowin Caron joins Moynihan in the top 50 with a rise of 11 rankings to 40th.

    Biggest ranking improvement

    • American Mason Weld is the week’s most improved player. He jumps 1,761 rankings to world number 3,312 after winning the David Toms Foundation Shreveport Junior.
