Maguire takes over world number one spot

  • Leona Maguire swaps places with Andrea Lee to take over the number one spot on the World Amateur Golf RankingTM. The Republic of Ireland amateur moves up one place after winning the NCAA South Bend Regional
  • The Duke University student edged out former world number one and teammate Celine Boutier by a shot. Scores of 72, 68 and 72 gave Maguire a 4-under-par total of 212. Boutier rises two rankings to world number five.

Win takes Finkelstein into top 10

  • Dana Finkelstein of the United States breaks into the top 10 with victory in the NCAA St George Regional. Finkelstein, a UNLV student, won by five shots after rounds of 72, 72 and a closing 4-under-par 71 gave her a 2-under-par 211. She improves seven places to seventh.

Davis becomes England number two

  • Victory in the NCAA San Antonio Regional makes Hayley Davis England’s second highest ranked player. The Baylor University student compiled a 16-under-par 200 after scores of 67, 68 and 65. She defeated compatriot and world number four Bronte Law by five shots, and rises 15 places to 24th.

Sagstrom rises to third

  • Sweden’s Madelene Sagstrom takes over the number three ranking by winning the NCAA Raleigh Regional. Sagstrom cruised to a six-shot victory with an 8-under-par score of 208. She rises five places this week.

Top 20 movers

  • Spain’s Maria Parra Luque and Olivia Cowan of Germany break into this week’s top 20. Luque rises 10 places to 16th. Cowan improves four places to 19th after winning the ASGI Ladies Open on the Ladies European Tour Access Series. 

    Biggest ranking improvement

    • American Marla Souvannasing is the week’s most improved player with a jump of 442 rankings to world number 1,972.

    Moynihan on course for second Walker Cup place

    • Gavin Moynihan breaks into the World Amateur Golf RankingTM top 50 after victory in the Irish Amateur Open Championship at Royal Dublin. The Irish player returned a 4-under-par 284 to win by four shots over Cormac Sharvin.
    • Moynihan was a member of the 2013 Great Britain & Ireland Walker Cup team, and has improved his chances of another appearance in the biennial match with a jump of 21 places to 44th. Sharvin also upped his chances of a Walker Cup berth with his second runner-up spot in as many weeks. He rises five places to 36th.

    Mansell races to Florida win

    • England’s Richard Mansell returned a closing 5-under-par 67 to win the NCAA D2 South-South East Region Championship at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club in Dade City, Florida. The Nova Southeastern University student compiled a 54-hole total of 209, 7-under-par, to take the title by two shots over two teammates. He climbs 141 places to 237th.

    Strydom takes KwaZulu-Natal Stroke Play

    • Great Britain & Ireland Walker Cup squad players Ashley Chesters of England and Scotland’s Bradley Neil break into this week’s top 20. Double European Amateur champion Chesters improves seven rankings to 14th. Reigning Amateur champion Neil advances three spots to 19th.

    Top 50 movers

    • Spain’s Ivan Cantero Gutierrez joins Moynihan in the top 50 with a rise of six rankings to 48th.

    Biggest ranking improvement

    • South Africa’s Jason Rossiter makes the biggest move this week with a jump of 1,485 places to 894th after 20th place in the KwaZulu-Natal Open Stroke Play Championship.
