Jon Rahm-Rodriguez Rahm impresses on PGA Tour – again

  • Jon Rahm-Rodriguez proved why he’s the number one player on the World Amateur Golf RankingTM with an impressive performance in the PGA Tour’s OHL Classic at Mayakoba. The Spaniard finished joint 10th after scores of 69, 68, 66 and 70 gave him an 11-under-par total of 273.
  • It’s the second time the Arizona State player has finished inside the top 10 in a PGA Tour event. Earlier this year he placed fifth in the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

Simaski wins Copa Juan Carlos Tailhade

  • Argentina’s Matias Simaski jumps 49 spots this week to 159th after winning the Copa Juan Carlos Tailhade in his homeland. Simaski returned scores of 69, 68 and 75 for a 1-under-par 212 to win by two shots over Canada’s Eric Banks and Khaled Attieh of Saudi Arabia. Banks rises 48 places to 223rd, while Attieh improves 176 positions to world number 1,173.

Mostert ekes out Gauteng win

  • Dylan Mostert eked out a one-shot win over four players to capture the Central Gauteng Open Stroke Play Championship. Score of 71, 66, 68 and 71 gave Mostert a 12-under-par 276 total. The South African advances 214 rankings to 1,119th.

Top 20 movers

  • Ivan Cantero Gutierrez of Spain is the only player to break into this week’s top 20. He rises five places to 19th.

Top 100 movers

  • There are no new top 50 players this week, while two players move into the top 100. Australian Ben Eccles advances 39 places to 64th, while Louis Cohen-Boyer of France rises 39 spots to 83rd.

Biggest ranking improvement

  • New Zealander Jordan Bakermans is the week’s most improved player with a jump of 1,206 positions to world number 3,916.

Maguire wins golfer of month award

  • Leona Maguire’s domination of the women’s amateur game has been further recognised by being voted ACC Golfer of the Month for October. The number one player on the World Amateur Golf RankingTM was instrumental in helping her Duke University team win two events during October, the Tar Heel Invitational and the Landfall Tradition.
  • Maguire took the individual title in the Tar Heel and finished fourth in the Landfall. She did not return any over par scores in the six rounds covering both tournaments, compiling a stroke average of 70.83

Altmann improves number one status

  • Luiza Altmann improves her status as Brazil’s number one woman amateur with victory in the Campeonato Bandeirantes de Golfe at Guarapiranga Golf & Country Club in Sao Paulo. Altmann took the title by 13 shots after scores of 72, 68 and 75 gave her a 2-over-par total of 215. She climbs 15 places to 164th.

Wanamarta wins Negeri Sembilan Amateur

  • Inez Beatrice Wanamarta of Indonesia rises 207 spots on this week’s ranking to 387th after winning the Negeri Sembilan Amateur Open in Malaysia. Wanamarta returned scores of 72, 73 and 75 for a 220 total. She won by a shot over Natasha Andrea Onn, who enters the ranking at world number 2,452.

Top 100 movers

  • No players break into the top 20 or 50 this week, while two players breach the top 100. Korea’s Hyunkyung Park advances 12 positions to 95th, while Ya-Chun Chang of Taipei improves 31 places to 98th.

Biggest ranking improvement

  • Korea’s Su-yean Lee takes that accolade with a rise of 352 spots to world number 1,002.
