Gonzalez saves best for last to win Maui Jim

  • Spain’s Alejandro Del Ray Gonzalez jumps 29 places on this week’s World Amateur Golf RankingTM to 108th after saving his best for last to win the Maui Jim Intercollegiate. The Arizona State player returned a final round of seven-under-par 65 after scores of 73 and 68 for a 10-under 206 total.
  • Del Ray Gonzalez ran out a three-shot winner over Lipscomb State’s Dawson Armstrong, who strengthens his position as the world’s 26th best player.

Cunningham takes William H Tucker for maiden win

  • George Cunningham began his final year at the University of Arizona in fine style by winning the William H Tucker Intercollegiate in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Cunningham was a model of consistency with scores of 70, 69 and 69 for an eight-under-par 208 total in recording his first college win. He moves 111 places this week to 313th.

Shipp rises to Golfweek Challenge

  • Benjamin Shipp moves 39 spots on this week’s WAGR table to 126th after winning the Golfweek Conference Challenge. The North Carolina State student sank a 30-foot birdie putt on the final green to win by two-shots and earn his first college victory.

  • Norway’s Viktor Hovland is the only new top 20 player this week, with a rise of three rankings to 18th.

Top 50 movers

  • Justin Suh of the United States and Scotland’s Liam Johnston are the only two players to enter this week’s top 50. Suh advances 11 places to 49th, while Johnson makes a one-ranking rise to 50th.

Biggest ranking improvement

  • England’s Josh Hill is the week’s most improved player with a jump of 1,241 rankings to world number 3,928.

Migliaccio motors to Mercedes win

  • Emilia Migliaccio of the United States moves inside the top 70 of this week’s World Amateur Golf RankingTMcourtesy of winning the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship. Migliaccio, a student at Wake Forest University, eked out a one-shot victory after scores of 67, 66 and 71 for a nine-under 204 total. Migliaccio makes a 16-ranking rise to 65th on this week’s table.

Fast start gives Jeon Lady Paladin win

  • Korea’s Jiwon Jeon jumps 174 places to 136th this week after winning the Lady Paladin Invitational. The Daytona State student began with an eight-under-par 64 and never looked back. Further rounds of 71 and 70 gave her a 205 total, 11-under-par, good enough for a two-shot win over Haylee Harford, who jumps 10 places to 48th.

Bagnoli crowned Italian champion

  • Letizia Bagnoli makes a significant move up this week’s WAGR table after winning the Italian Ladies Match Play Championship. Along with lifting the Giuseppe Silva Trophy, Bagnoli climbs 46 rankings to 154th.

  • Denmark’s Puk Lyng Thomsen is the only new top 20 player this week. She moves back into the top 20 with a two-ranking rose to 19th.

Top 50 movers

  • Italy’s Carlotta Ricolfi joins Haylee Harford in the world top 50 with a move of 15 spots to 46th.

Biggest ranking improvement

  • Pinyada Kuvanun of Thailand is the most improved player with a move of 615 rankings to world number 594th.
