Schmidt moves into top 30 with NSW Amateur win


Benjamin Schmidt breaks into the World Amateur Golf Ranking® top 30 after a relatively easy 7&5 victory over England teammate Callum Farr to win the NSW Amateur at St Michael’s Golf Club in Sydney. The 17-year-old Barnsley resident adds the trophy to impressive 2019 wins that included the Brabazon and Carris Trophies. He improves five rankings to 28th, while Farr climbs 30 places to 251st.


Jarvis doubles up in Gauteng North Open


Casey Jarvis is 23 rankings better off in 243rd after winning his second tournament in as many weeks. The South African moves to 243rd after adding the Gauteng North Open to the Free State Open he won last week. Jarvis won the Gauteng North Open by eight shots after posting rounds of 69, 63, 64 and 63 at Centurion Country Club for an impressive 25-under 259 total.


Bradley goes two for three in First Coast Amateur


Cole Bradley makes a 58-ranking improvement to 819th after winning the JAGA First Coast Amateur for the second time in three years. The Purdue student opened with scores of 74 and 70 at The Conservatory at Hammock Beach Resort in Florida. He closed with a 68 to post a 4-under 212 for a one-shot victory.


Biggest ranking improvement


There are no new top 20 or 50 entries, while Ricardo Velasquez of Colombia makes the biggest move. He jumps 910 rankings to 4,708th after winning the 1° Torneo Prejuvenil Y Juvenil in his homeland. He was one of two notable Colombian winners this week. Jose Ignacio Ramirez triumphed in the Clasificatorio Sudamericano Juvenil in Venezuela and advances 113 positions to 1,455th.

Moresco breaks into top 20 with ANNIKA win


Benedetta Moresco breaks into the World Amateur Golf Ranking® top 20 thanks to victory in the ANNIKA Invitational USA presented by Rolex. The Italian makes a nine-ranking move to 13th, her highest position on the WAGR table, after taking the title in St Augustine, Florida. Moresco was a model of consistency, returning scores of 71, 70 and 71 for a 4-under 212 total to win by two shots over American Sadie Englemann, who rises 62 positions to 188th.


Kim finds second time a charm in NSW Amateur


Grace Kim joins the top 80 after winning the NSW Amateur. Kim defeated New South Wales teammate Kelsey Bennett 3&2 in the scheduled 36-hole final to atone for finishing runner up last year. “Second time is a charm,” said Kim, who ended 2019 by winning the Victorian Amateur. The 19-year old climbs 31 positions to 72nd. Bennett improves 23 places to 468th.


Top 20 movers


Great Britain & Ireland Walker Cup player Olivia Mehaffey joins Moresco in the top 20 with a one ranking rise to 20th.


Top 50 movers


Scotland’s Hannah Darling and Lauren Hartlage of the United States take their places in this week’s top 50. Darling improves her status as Scotland’s top amateur with a three-ranking move to 48th, while Hartlage moves two spots to occupy 50th position.


Biggest ranking improvement


Caroline Hwang takes that honour with a jump of 395 rankings to world number 1,857th after a joint 12th place finish in the ANNIKA Invitational USA presented by Rolex.
